Music Venues in Derby

Great local music venues to enjoy live music or play your gig.

Here at Drum Lessons Derby we truly believe that there is no better way to introduce yourself to the local music scene and get involved than going to see some live music yourself.

You may even pick up a trick or two from one of the performers. Derby has a limited selection of venues but Drum Lessons Derby has dug in deep and picked our favourite few off the vine for you, enjoy.

Derby County Football Club

Derby County Football Club, located on 25 King Street, Derby, DE1 3DZ, formerly 'Pride Park' of Derby Football Club, hosts many big names acts and is a common stop-off point for many artists on tours around the UK. It's welcomed the likes of Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Rod Stewart in the past, both hugely famous names with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers having played alongside Bruno Mars in the 2013 NFL Superbowl XLIV half-time show. The iPro Stadium in Derby has a capacity of almost 35,000 and when full, can create one hell of an atmosphere for a memorable night of music. The only downside is that it doesn't host live music anywhere near often enough.

The Hairy Dog

The Hairy Dog can be found on 1 Becket Street, Derby, DE1 1HT. It is a pub-venue hybrid and is one of Derby's gems. The venue itself is quite small and hosts some of the best local, British and overseas alternative bands. The main bar area has sitting areas as well as a live DJ setup and a pool table and the stage area can house up to 150 people. It may be small but the venue setup means it keeps all it's sound and produces a cracking atmosphere for a great night out. There is also discounted nearby accommodation at Metro Inns Derby for those visiting the Hairy Dog, so organise something with your friends from around the country and take them to Derby's most spirited pub.

The Venue

The Venue Derby is a facility that hosts a selection of acts whether that be music, comedy nights or theatrical performances. Live Music is played here regularly and they host some of the bigger names a few times a year. The venue is spacious with a decent capacity and caters for all that are looking for a decent chilled night out. The Venue also takes bookings for your own events, so you could apply to play music here or host an event like a wedding reception or a ball.
